Poly Tubing

Poly Tubing

Poly tubing is continuous LDPE film supplied in lay-flat rolls, designed to be cut to any length and heat sealed to create custom-sized bags on demand. Available in 2, 3, 4, and 6 mil thicknesses with lay-flat widths from 3 to 60 inches. Poly tubing eliminates the need to stock multiple bag sizes by allowing operators to create bags sized exactly to the product being packaged. All standard tubing meets FDA and USDA specifications and is compatible with impulse and constant-heat sealers.

Material and Construction

Poly tubing is manufactured from 100% virgin low-density polyethylene (LDPE) resin using blown film extrusion. The result is a continuous, tube of film that lies flat on the roll. Unlike pre-made bags, tubing has no side seals or bottom seal, giving the operator full control over bag length. The tubing is cut to the desired length and both ends are heat sealed to create a custom bag, or one end is sealed and the product is inserted from the open end before sealing the top.

Mil Thickness Selection

  • 2 mil is a light-duty tubing for packaging lightweight items, dust protection, and temporary storage. Widths available from 3 to 32 inches with roll lengths up to 2,000 feet.
  • 3 mil provides medium-duty protection for parts and products with moderate weight or slight edges.
  • 4 mil is the standard-duty option for most industrial packaging applications. Available in clear and black LDPE, with widths from 3 to 48 inches.
  • 6 mil is heavy-duty tubing for metal parts, sharp-edged components, and large or heavy items. Available in widths from 3 to 60 inches with roll lengths varying by width (300 to 1,000 feet).

Custom Bag Creation

Poly tubing converts to bags using any standard impulse or constant-heat sealer. The operator pulls tubing off the roll, inserts the product, and seals both ends (or one end if using the fold at the bottom of the tube). This process allows a single roll of tubing to replace dozens of pre-made bag sizes, reducing inventory complexity and waste from oversized bags. For high-volume operations, auto-baggers and bag-making machines can be fed directly from tubing rolls.

Width and Roll Specifications

Lay-flat width refers to the measurement across the flattened tube. When opened, the usable circumference is twice the lay-flat width. Standard lay-flat widths range from 3 inches (for small parts) to 60 inches (for large items, furniture components, and industrial equipment). Roll lengths decrease as width and mil thickness increase, ranging from approximately 300 feet for the widest heavy-duty rolls to 2,000 feet for narrow light-duty tubing.

FDA Compliance

All standard virgin LDPE poly tubing meets FDA and USDA specifications for food contact applications. The tubing also meets MIL SPEC A-A-3174 for lay-flat polyethylene tubing.

Anti-Static Poly Bags

Anti-static poly bags designed to prevent static charge buildup and protect ESD-sensitive electronic components during storage and shipping. Manufactured from polyethylene film treated with anti-static additives that dissipate surface charges. Available in flat open-end and reclosable configurations across standard mil thicknesses. Pink-tinted anti-static bags provide visual identification of ESD-safe packaging, while clear anti-static bags maintain product visibility.

Bag in box inserters designed for efficient packaging of liquids and granular products.

Bag in Box Inserters

Bag-in-box inserters automatically open and insert pre-formed poly bags or liners into erected corrugated cases at rates up to 25 insertions per minute. Available in semi-automatic and fully automatic configurations, these machines handle gusseted bags, flat bags, and custom liners with adjustable box size settings.

Horizontal Form Fill and Seal machine for efficient packaging solutions.

Horizontal Form Fill and Seal

Horizontal form fill and seal machines wrap products in a continuous film web at speeds up to 200+ packages per minute. These flow wrappers form a tube of film around each product, create a longitudinal fin or lap seal, and cross-seal both ends for a fully enclosed package in continuous motion.
