Pouches
Pouch Construction
Packaging pouches are manufactured from multi-layer laminate film structures that combine the properties of different polymer and foil substrates. Each layer serves a specific function: outer layers provide printability and abrasion resistance, middle layers contribute barrier properties (moisture, oxygen, UV light), and inner layers provide heat-seal capability. Common laminate structures include PET/PE, PET/foil/PE, nylon/PE, and PET/metalized PET/PE, with the specific construction selected based on product protection requirements.
Pouch Types
- Stand-up pouches feature a bottom gusset that allows the pouch to stand upright on shelves and counters. This format is widely used for snack foods, coffee, pet food, and consumer goods where shelf presence and self-standing display are important.
- Flat pouches (three-side seal) are sealed on three sides with an open top for filling. They lie flat and are used for single-serve sachets, sample packs, and products that do not require upright display.
- Side-gusset pouches have expandable side panels that increase volume capacity while maintaining a compact footprint when empty. They are commonly used for coffee, tea, flour, and granular products.
- Vacuum pouches are designed for vacuum packaging where air is removed before sealing. They are constructed from nylon/PE or other high-barrier laminates that resist puncture under vacuum pressure and maintain seal integrity.
Printing Options
Both digital and flexographic (plate) printing are available.
Barrier Properties
Barrier performance is determined by the laminate structure and is measured by moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR) and oxygen transmission rate (OTR). Standard PE-based pouches provide moisture resistance suitable for dry goods. Foil-laminate pouches offer the highest barrier protection, blocking virtually all moisture, oxygen, and light transmission. Metalized film pouches provide a mid-range barrier option between clear film and full foil constructions.
Closure and Dispensing Features
- Heat seal provides a permanent tamper-evident closure for single-use applications.
- Zipper reclosable tops allow consumers to open and reseal the pouch multiple times, maintaining product freshness.
- Tear notches are pre-scored or die-cut points that enable easy opening without scissors.
- Hang holes allow pouches to be displayed on retail peg hooks.
- Spouts are available for liquid products, enabling controlled pouring and recapping.
FDA and Food Safety Compliance
Food-grade pouch materials are manufactured from FDA-compliant resins and adhesives. Specific laminate structures are certified for direct food contact, including applications involving fatty, acidic, and high-moisture food products. Retort-grade pouches are engineered to withstand high-temperature sterilization for shelf-stable food packaging.

Anti-Static Poly Bags
Anti-static poly bags designed to prevent static charge buildup and protect ESD-sensitive electronic components during storage and shipping. Manufactured from polyethylene film treated with anti-static additives that dissipate surface charges. Available in flat open-end and reclosable configurations across standard mil thicknesses. Pink-tinted anti-static bags provide visual identification of ESD-safe packaging, while clear anti-static bags maintain product visibility.
Bag in Box Inserters
Bag-in-box inserters automatically open and insert pre-formed poly bags or liners into erected corrugated cases at rates up to 25 insertions per minute. Available in semi-automatic and fully automatic configurations, these machines handle gusseted bags, flat bags, and custom liners with adjustable box size settings.
Horizontal Form Fill and Seal
Horizontal form fill and seal machines wrap products in a continuous film web at speeds up to 200+ packages per minute. These flow wrappers form a tube of film around each product, create a longitudinal fin or lap seal, and cross-seal both ends for a fully enclosed package in continuous motion.
Poly Bags
Flat and reclosable poly bags manufactured from virgin low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) film. Available in mil thicknesses from 1 to 8 mil across hundreds of standard sizes, from small 2x3-inch parts bags to large 30x36-inch industrial bags. Closure options include open-end flat bags, single-track reclosable zipper bags, and heat-sealable configurations. All standard poly bags meet FDA and USDA requirements for food contact applications.
Poly Sheets
Poly sheets are flat, pre-cut polyethylene film used as interleaving layers, surface protection, dust covers, and wrapping material. Manufactured from low-density polyethylene (LDPE) in thicknesses from 1 to 10 mil. Available in standard sheet sizes as well as continuous rolls for high-volume applications. Common uses include pallet layer separation, surface protection during construction and renovation, and product wrapping where bags are not practical due to item size or shape.
Poly Tubing
Poly tubing is continuous LDPE film supplied in lay-flat rolls, designed to be cut to any length and heat sealed to create custom-sized bags on demand. Available in 2, 3, 4, and 6 mil thicknesses with lay-flat widths from 3 to 60 inches. Poly tubing eliminates the need to stock multiple bag sizes by allowing operators to create bags sized exactly to the product being packaged. All standard tubing meets FDA and USDA specifications and is compatible with impulse and constant-heat sealers.
