Printed and Colored Tape
Custom Printed Tape
Custom printed carton sealing tape features company logos, brand names, handling instructions, or promotional messages printed directly on the tape surface using flexographic or digital printing methods. Flexographic printing supports up to 3 Pantone spot colors and is the standard for high-volume production runs. Digital printing provides full CMYK color capability for smaller runs and photographic-quality images.
Print Specifications
- Print area on 2-inch tape is approximately 1.6 inches in height. On 3-inch tape, the print area is approximately 2.5 inches.
- Design repeat length determines how frequently the printed design appears along the tape. Standard repeat options include 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, and 12 inch intervals.
- Artwork requirements include vector format files (.ai, .eps, .pdf, .svg) for flexographic printing and 300+ dpi raster files for digital printing. Fonts must be converted to outlines.
Pre-Printed Message Tapes
Stock printed tapes with standard messages are available without custom printing lead times. Common pre-printed messages include FRAGILE, DO NOT DOUBLE STACK, THIS SIDE UP, CAUTION, HOLD FOR INSPECTION, and other handling and safety instructions. These tapes are printed in bold, high-contrast colors for immediate visibility.
Solid Color Tape
Solid color carton sealing tape is used for inventory color-coding, department identification, order priority marking, and visual sorting in warehouse and distribution environments. Standard solid colors include red, orange, yellow, green, blue, white, and tan. Color-coded tape systems allow workers to quickly identify carton contents, destinations, or handling requirements without opening or reading labels.
Film Backing and Adhesive
Printed and colored tapes are manufactured on polypropylene (most common) or PVC film backing. Polypropylene backing provides a glossy surface with good print clarity at lower cost. PVC backing offers a matte finish and slightly higher conformability. Both backing materials are available with acrylic adhesive (for temperature extremes and long-term storage) or hot melt adhesive (for aggressive tack on recycled corrugated).
Thickness
- 1.9 mil standard grade for general printed and colored tape applications
- 2.0-2.5 mil for standard to heavy-duty carton sealing with print
- 2.9 mil heavy-duty grade for maximum strength with printing

Acrylic and Hot Melt Carton Sealing Tape
Carton sealing tape in acrylic and hot melt adhesive formulations for hand and machine application. Manufactured on biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film backing in thicknesses from 1.6 to 3.6 mil. Standard widths of 2 and 3 inches with roll lengths from 55 yards (hand grade) to 1,350+ yards (machine grade). Acrylic adhesive provides wide temperature tolerance and long-term aging stability, while hot melt adhesive delivers aggressive initial tack and strong bonding to recycled corrugated surfaces.
Industrial Masking and Filament Tape
Industrial masking tape and filament tape for surface protection, paint masking, bundling, and reinforcement applications. Masking tape is manufactured from crepe paper backing with rubber-based or silicone adhesive, available in temperature ratings from standard (140F) to high-temperature (400F+). Filament tape is constructed from polypropylene or polyester film reinforced with fiberglass filaments, delivering tensile strengths from 100 to 680 lbs per inch. Both tape types are available in widths from 1/4 to 3+ inches.
Water Activated Paper Tape
Water-activated paper tape (gummed tape) for tamper-evident carton sealing. Manufactured from kraft paper with a starch-based adhesive that activates when moistened. Available in reinforced (fiberglass-laminated) and non-reinforced configurations. Widths from 1 to 3 inches with roll lengths from 300 to 600 feet. When activated and applied, the adhesive penetrates corrugated fiber and creates a permanent, fiber-tearing bond that cannot be opened and resealed without visible evidence of tampering. The tape and adhesive are recyclable with corrugated materials.
