Wet Compactor
Wet compactors, also called self-contained compactors, are designed for waste streams that produce liquids during compaction. Unlike stationary (dry) compactors where the container detaches, self-contained compactors integrate the compaction mechanism and the container into a single sealed unit. This prevents liquid leachate from leaking onto the ground during loading, compaction, and hauling.
Liquid Containment
The defining feature of a self-contained compactor is the built-in liquid sump reservoir, which collects and contains all liquids produced during waste compaction. Sump capacities range from 750 gallons to 1,050 gallons depending on the model size. The sealed design ensures no liquid escapes the unit at any point in the loading, compaction, or transport cycle, meeting environmental compliance requirements for wet waste handling.
Compaction Process
Waste is loaded through the top charge box opening (typically 40" x 60") and compressed by the hydraulic ram into the integral container. The ram face (approximately 27.5" x 60") distributes compaction force evenly across the material. Multiple compression cycles fill the container to maximum density. When full, the entire self-contained unit is picked up by the hauling truck and replaced with an empty unit.
Force and Capacity
Compaction forces range from 45,000 to 55,000+ lbs, powered by standard 10 HP motors. While slightly lower than stationary dry compactor forces due to the sealed container design, these force ratings provide effective compaction for wet waste materials. Rated capacities start at 2 cubic yards for the compaction chamber.

Dry Compactor
Dry compactors (stationary compactors) compress dry solid waste into roll-off containers for reduced pickup frequency and lower hauling costs. With compaction forces from 50,000 to 62,000+ lbs, 10 HP motors, and charge box openings up to 46" x 60", these units handle cardboard, general refuse, dry industrial waste, and mixed recyclables.
Vertical Downstroke Baler
Vertical downstroke balers compress recyclable materials into dense, manageable bales for efficient storage and transport. Available with compaction forces from 56,000 to 67,000+ lbs, 10 HP motors, and chamber widths from 30" to 72", these balers produce bales weighing up to 1,100 lbs from OCC, plastics, textiles, and other recyclables.
