Measurable Results

Environmental Impact by the Numbers

Every metric below is derived from actual operational data. These figures reflect the tangible environmental benefit of diverting waste from landfills and reclaiming materials for productive reuse.

Over

0

Trucks

On average, Continental has prevented 8,600 truckloads of waste paper and plastics from entering landfills every year since 2011.

The equivalent of diverting waste from approximately 2,000 garbage trucks every day.

Over

0

Cubic Yards

By avoiding landfilling of 5,681,300 cubic yards of waste, Continental has helped prevent the release of harmful greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

Equivalent to taking over 63,000 cars off the road each year.

Over

0

Trees Saved

Over the past 11 years, Continental has saved the equivalent of 32,194,037 trees through paper recycling and reclamation programs.

More than enough to cover Central Park in New York City almost 8 times over.

Over

0

Kilowatts Conserved

Continental's energy-saving efforts have resulted in the conservation of 7,575,067,656 kilowatts of energy over the past 11 years.

Equivalent to powering over 1.3 million homes for a year.

Over

0

Barrels of Oil

Continental's environmental impact over the past 11 years has resulted in the savings of 719,631,427 barrels of oil.

Enough oil to power over 20 million cars for a year.

Over

0

Gallons of Water

Continental's water-saving efforts have resulted in the conservation of 13,256,368,398 gallons of water over the past 11 years.

Enough water to fill more than 20,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

Closed-Loop Approach

How Recycling and Packaging Work Together

Continental operates an integrated model where packaging supply and recycling work as two sides of the same operation. Materials that reach end-of-life are purchased back, sorted, and directed to responsible recycling channels. Reconditioned virgin kraft linerboard and chipboard re-enter the supply chain as tier sheets, slip sheets, pallet pads, and custom-cut sheets.

This closed-loop approach reduces reliance on virgin materials, lowers disposal costs for customers, and keeps usable materials out of landfills. The converting division further extends material life by reconditioning and refurbishing recovered kraft linerboard and chipboard to exact specifications.

Step 1

Waste paper and plastics purchased from businesses and individuals

Step 2

Materials sorted, graded, and directed to recycling processors

Step 3

Recovered kraft linerboard and chipboard reconditioned, refurbished, and re-enter the packaging supply chain

Join the Effort

Whether selling recyclable materials, sourcing reconditioned packaging, or optimizing an existing packaging line, Continental can help reduce waste and lower costs at the same time.
