As a Packaging Field Service Technician at Continental, you'll play a crucial role in our operations and directly contribute to the success of our extensive customer base, spanning over 35 states and 500 plants. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about their work, ready to tackle new challenges, and keen on advancing their careers in a dynamic and supportive setting.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Technical Mastery: Assist in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of our extensive range of packaging products. Your expertise will ensure the operational efficiency and reliability of equipment essential to our client's success.

Qualifications for Success:

  • Educational Excellence: A solid foundation with a BSEET or AASEET, with hands-on experience in dynamic, technology-driven environments.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skills in PLC programming and troubleshooting and a thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, with knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC, Compact Logic, Micro Logic, SLC500, and RS View.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to corporate customers, suppliers, colleagues, and the internal executive team.
  • Operational Readiness: Preparedness to navigate varied work environments, with a valid driver’s license, the ability to travel extensively, and the physical capability to manage the role's demands.

  • Systems Integration: Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and other parties in supporting systems integrations that may involve complex machinery or complete turnkey systems.
  • Re-builds and Re-manufactures: Perform complex re-builds and re-manufactures equipment with minimal supervision, showcasing technical skill and autonomy.
  • Engineering Participation: Actively participate in application engineering activities, contributing technical expertise to project planning and execution.
  • Diagnostic Testing: Conduct comprehensive electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical tests on equipment and components to ensure functionality or identify the cause of failures.
  • Equipment Installation: Manage the installation of equipment and machinery, aligning with customer requirements and seamlessly integrating into existing or new production lines.
  • Service Calls: Handle various service calls, including troubleshooting, electrical/control work, system audits, preventive maintenance, rebuilds, retrofits, and system training.
  • Independent Working: Demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, maintaining high performance and reliability standards.
  • Process Improvement: Generate and provide reports recommending process improvements across various operational areas, necessitating adequate/proficient writing skills.
  • Technical Documentation: Document critical technical and customer information to support and enhance ongoing business relationships.
  • Continuous Learning: Proactively learn new components and design principles, staying ahead of industry advancements.
  • Sales Opportunities: Identify and act on product/service sales opportunities at customer sites that can improve their packaging processes.
  • Problem Resolution: Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Travel Planning: Efficiently plan, book, and execute travel schedules, maintaining flexibility and responsiveness to customer needs.

Preferred Qualifications Expanded:

  • Educational Background: Possession of a BSEET or AASEET, with hands-on experience in military or production environments.
  • Technical Proficiency: Using laptops, MS Office, and Windows platforms alongside various machine and hand tools.
  • Communication Skills: Demonstrated excellence in technical, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Mechanical and Electrical Aptitude: Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including troubleshooting expertise.
  • PLC and HMI Experience: Experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming, HMI programming, Compact Logic, Micro Logic, SLC500, and RS View.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and follow blueprints, machine drawings, and electrical drawings, with skills in setting up, calibrating, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Problem-solving: Capability to resolve a significant percentage of mechanical, electrical, and programming issues independently.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Well-developed interpersonal skills and an intuitive sense for engaging resources effectively.
  • Licenses and Physical Requirements: Valid driver’s license, ability to obtain a passport, and the physical capability to perform job functions across various environments. OSHA 5 HR or 10 HR will be required during onboarding. Work is performed in a combination of shop/warehouse environments.
